As a charity, the school operates as a company limited by guarantee and in accordance with the Company's articles and memorandum of association.
The board of Trustees of the training school consists of people with a seafood industry, charitable or business background. All trustees are at senior management level. Some trustees bring specific skills to the board such as experience in training, charitable activities and finances, which offers the Principal and school a wealth of expertise and support.
The Chairman of the board is Fred Stroyan who is on the Court of Fishmongers' Company. Fred is the founder of New England Seafood and is keen to see the industry activity of the school develop, but to reach as many young people as possible. He is also a very keen fisherman.
The Principal and Chief Executive
Ms CJ Jackson is the schools Principal and Chief Executive of the charity. CJ joined the school as a freelance chef trainer in 2004 and became Principal in 2006.
She has a teaching background having taught at both The Cordon Bleu Cookery School and Leiths School of Food and Wine, where she was Vice Principal during the 1990's.
CJ has a particular expertise and interest in teaching about both the preparation and cooking of all seafood. She particularly enjoys working at Billingsgate.
She also has an established career as a food writer and product development consultant. Apart for contributing regularly to publications including BBC Good Food Magazine, CJ has edited, written and co-authored a number of books including:
