Outreach Visits for primary schools

Fish to Food Course at Your School - Primary

As part of our Educational programme we are delighted to be able to bring a small piece of Billingsgate to your school.  Children have the opportunity to investigate a selection of sustainable fish and shellfish to encourage a wider understanding of fish as a food.  Schools are encouraged to include details of the visit in newsletters or web sites so the whole school community can think Fish!

Sessions can be planned to include a variety of activities but there is an opportunity to watch a short DVD focusing on sustainability –handle, touch and smell a variety of fish and shellfish!  Further activities could be a selection of: peeling prawns; the demonstration of a simple recipe to taste or hands on preparation of a recipe dish.

There is a selection of recipes to take home and we encourage feedback from parents and children through our email: billingsgatekids@seafoodtraining.org

Age groups: Year 1 – Year 6

Timings: flexible to suit individual schools

Minimum 75 children in small groups/classes over the school day

Cost: These courses are funded by the profits on the commercial courses run by Billingsgate Seafood School and support from Direct Seafood. In order to offer as many schools as possible the opportunity of a visit we ask for a Voluntary Contribution (Perhaps in the region of £1.00 per child)

To book: Click Contact us and select Education Booking Enquiry as the subject.  Please provide as much information as possible, there is availability for selected dates in January and February 2018.
